We just got back from the new Harry Potter movie! It was awesome!! A
little better than the 3rd one, and probably my favourite so far. When
the film was about to start, the projector's bulb burnt out, so we
waited a minute or two for them to fix it. Instead, they moved us all
into another theater (so we had to find new seats), where we waited
another minute or two while they got things set up. After the film was
over, everyone got a voucher for free admission to their next movie :).
Tonight is volunteer night at the store. Every year we have a special
evening for the elderly and disabled customers to be able to have a fun,
leisurely evening, without worrying about crowds and stuff. My
department is usually the only one that makes any significant sales. I
wasn't able to get anyone to help with me tonight, so hopefully it's not
super busy.
I've decided to fudge the dates on my new drawing (and a special holiday
themed poster that's finished), and make them 2006 works instead. I
figure it's better to do that than to have 1 or 2 non-photographic works
for the whole of 2005. Of course, as far as productive creativity is
concerned, 2005 was a great year, on account of all the photos I took.
I had the day off today, and decided to take another stab at that new
drawing that seemingly never gets done. I actually made some great
progress... to the point that I may be happy with what I've done to it!
It's difficult because I didn't have any plan for it when I originally
sketched it out in 1998. Now that the process is partially done on the
computer, the possibilities for colour and design elements are endless,
but it's important to maintain certain qualities that are recognizable
to one's art. What I mean to say is, each work has to be innovative, but
recognizable, and it has to feel right to me after I've
created it. The space between when I did this new work, and when I'll
finish it, is roughly 7 years apart...
So I actually might have some new art for 2005...or I might just fudge
the dates, and have it be a new one for 2006... haven't decided yet :).
Got some packages in the mail today and yesterday, including some
fancy-ass thermal underwear that's warm and cozy as heck! I like it so
much that I instantly ordered a set for my mum for christmas (but don't
tell her!).
I got two of the panoramas that I took on 10/11/05 at Centennial Park
printed out, and they look fantastic!!! I may get some more copies
printed out for xmas presents....
There's a big silver maple tree in the yard next door to us, and of
course at this time of the year, it's leaves are all over the place. The
thing is, is that the 'silver' side of these leaves are really
white right now, so on a whim, I decided to take pictures indoors today
featuring this lovely leaf :). Check it out in the gallery! It's series
'111505', of course.
Also today, I got a card in the mail from a very special person!
I will treasure it forever and ever.... and ever! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!
:)
I've updated the 'about' me page with a list of my photography
equipment, and changed the design of the 'links' page slightly (still
needs a little more work).
I was thinking about going down to the waterfront today to take some
pictures... but I've changed my mind and might go next week or the week
after. I got my tripod bag in the mail today, and look forward now to
easily taking the tripod around with me.
Watched Ghost In The Shell 2: Innocence today! It was awesome, though I
hated the subtitling of the sound effects in the R1 edition of the movie
(....you don't need subs for sound effects! duh!). Also today, I carried
the template for the index pages for my photos over to my manga and did
up an index page for the 1993 and 2003 stuff. So a very productive day
off if I do say so myself :).
I've finished designing/making and printing the 'index' pages for my
photography portfolio. Now I just have to print out the actual photo (or
send them out to be printed), and I'll have a nice professional-looking
portfolio (in a binder) to show people (just like I do with my manga).
