I called The Shoe Company today to see what was happening, and
unfortunately, I didn't get the Store Manager's position that I wanted
:(. However, I will keep my eyes open for one of the full-time associate
positions when the store opens in August...so for now, I'm still at
Sears.
I received a pair of Ecco shoes in the mail today, that I got from ebay
a couple of weeks ago. I now have a fleet of them (3 pairs), and I'm
very happy :). They are all used (but in fantastic condition), so I got
them all for a sweet deal! I have a wingtip, a toecap, and a plain-toe
one. I bought them to replace a pair of Prospector's that I haven't been
able to wear for several years now, another pair of Prospector's
(Biowalks) that are starting to wear too much on the sole at the heel
(and they're just plain old too, about 6-7 years old), and (possibly) a
pair of Rockports, though I'm not sure I will phase out that pair...
there's still lots of life in them yet (about 2 years old).
On a related note, I still have a pair of brown Prospector's that I got
from Eaton's that are still in fantastic shape that I've worn for
roughly 8 years now, and don't plan on replacing anytime soon :).
I've just added a bunch of 'store' links to the links section. These are
various places online to get all kinds of cool stuff, some of which I've
bought for myself, so I can vouch for many of them :)
We actually got a little bit of snow today! It was the tiny kind that
melts on contact with the ground, almost like a frozen drizzle...just
typical Thunder Bay weather! Heheh :)
My manager at Sears called me tonight, asking about an associate that
used to work with us a couple years back. She didn't work with us for
very long (she was moving down south for a little while to finish
school), but the impact she had on myself and our department was
phenomenal. Such was this impact on myself, that I could think of nobody
else while she was with us... The temptation would be so strong, almost
strong enough to make me stay for a couple of months, but then I would
miss this opportunity with
The Shoe Company for sure, and I can't have that! I'd just have to visit
everyday, that's all :)
So, I just got back from my interview with
The Shoe Company! Kim and Carolyn (the two ladies who interviewed me) are
awesome!! I think it went very well, I was so nervous :).... though not
super nervous, like I thought I'd be, so that's good. Hopefully I didn't
come across as too nervous, meaning that the passion and enthusiasm that
I have, maybe didn't quite come across to them. I believe the odds are
in my favor, from a footwear experience point of view, as no other
'young' person in Thunder Bay has the amount (and type of experience)
that I do. I just have to hope that they see that, and give me the
chance that I deserve, and have worked towards for so long! I should
know in the next few days what their decision is. Keep your fingers
crossed for me, I want this really badly :) !
Also, on an unrelated note, the guestbook seems to be getting overrun
with spam. I think that I'll dump it soon in favor of a forum or bbs or
something... we'll see. Plus, for the gallery section, I've installed a
new script that will track when, and how often, my stuff is downloaded.
The link to the script (Downstat) is in the sidebar on the left, as
always.
We went to see Sin City last night, it was great!! However, if you're
not familiar with the graphic novels that the movie is based on, you
might think that the movie is overly violent, so it's not for everyone.
Interview day creeps ever closer.... only a few days left! I'm very
excited, but I also get really nervous when I seriously think about
it... this will be such a big deal for me, it's so important that I get
this!
So it turns out that my interview has been pushed forwards by a week, I
now have it on the 19th of April instead of the 12th. Now I have two
weeks to learn how to cook and do laundry :)
